Customer Review: can't recommend because of design features
I got this as a replacement for the original adapter that I left by accident in a rental car. It works and I like the coiled cable but that's about all I can say about it. Now for the things I don't like. Foremost, the end that plugs into the outlet is very large and clumsy. I have a '06 Subaru Legacy and it interferes with my access to controls and dashboard. It is difficult to grab the gear shift when it's in park and the adapter is plugged in. I imagine that it would be more clumsy in some cars and less in others but I view this as a major design flaw. If I had known about this beforehand, I probably wouldn't have bought it. The other design flaw is the little blue light on the charger that shows power is flowing. That seems like a nice feature but I don't think the folks who designed it thought it through well enough. The light is very bright for night driving and too distracting. Again, it might depend on the your access to the outlet but my light is almost pointed straight at the driver. I do not recommend this product to other buyers. I miss the original charger!

The seller was great,would recomend or buy again in the future. One of the adapters was faulty and he replaced it at no charge. Have not taken a long trip yet , but have used it around town and is on the money !
Customer Review: Maps are not accurate
First of all, I love having a GPS. My job requires me to travel most of the state of New York as well as other places, and it is unbelievable how much time a GPS saves vs using MapQuest, Streets & Trips, etc. The problem with the Tom Tom GPS units is that their maps are woefully inaccurate! I would say 90% of the time they are right on, but the 10% they are off is costly (and can be dangerous if you wind up in the wrong part of the wrong town!) I called their technical support several times and was assured I had the latest maps. I recently stopped in their Boston headquarters and found out I could "Buy" the "real" updated maps for $49. Since my unit was less than a year old, the tech service rep felt guilty and updated my map and software for free. I now own one up-to-date unit, and two out-of-date units which I refuse to pay $49 each to get maps I should have had in the first place. 3 of my friends bought Garmin C330's and have NEVER had an issue with their maps. I just bought my daughter a GPS, and guess what... I bought her a Garmin. I've seen similar complaints on-line about Garmin charging for updated maps, but so far none of my friends have needed them. My advice...try the Garmin, and buy it from a reputable dealer where you can exchange it if you're not satisfied.

I don't know how well this item works. However, Amazon.com put this in as a recommended purchase when I purchased my TomTom One Third Edition. However, after receiving the GPS and the antenna, I found out you can't use an external antenna with a TomTom One Third Edition. I can't give it a perfect mark because I know nothing about it. I gave it a three star because Amazon.com shouldn't be referring it as a recommended buy
Customer Review: in dash mounted unit
i own a full sized chevy silverado and had plenty of dashboard space. i didn't want the unit on top of the dash or suction cupped to the window. so i mounted it in my dashboard and it looks great it's out of direct sunlight, the thieves cant see it so the only problem was reception. it was solved by adding the external antenna, my gps gets more satellites than my tv does and in any weather or location.
